2019 Canadian Amputee & Disabled National Open  (August 14-17, 2019 in Okotoks, AB)

We have another CADNO tournament in the books and it was great. This year’s event was the first World Disabled Golfer Ranking tournament held in Canada and included golfers with other disabilities. Golfers with disabilities such as Cerebral Palsay, Scoliosis, players with various levels of Paralysis including a Para golfer and Amputees. It was amazing watching a bunch of very talented golfers play during the week. Players came from as far away as Bermuda and included players from the USA and Canada.

Also our Hole Sponsors, Colman Prosthetics, Troppman Prosthetics, David Meszaros Sun Life and CO-OP High River for their donation of water and other items for the players.

The weather co-operated most of the week but unfortunately played a role on the last day with high winds and some rain which caused a delay in play.

​

A total of 33 golfers played in the two events. There was a Disabled and Amputee Division.

​

There were 20 players the World Disabled Ranking Division playing for World Ranking Points in Stoke, Net and Stableford sections. Players were divided into 2 separate divisions based on handicap, with players under 18.5 playing Stroke and Net and players over 18.5 playing in Net Stableford.

​

There was some great golf played during the week and after day 3 in the Stroke play it was AASRA member Jesse Florkowski finishing with a 3 day total of 220, just edging  out Chris Biggins from the US by one stroke who finished with 221. Finishing third was Kurtis Barkley from Ontario with a 3 day score of 232. The Ladies Champion was claimed by Patti Valero from Florida with a 3 day total of 312.

In the Net play Kristian Hammerback finished first with a Net of 212 one stroke under par. In second was Johannes Grames with a Net score of 219 and in third Jesse Florkowski with 220.

​

In the Stableford Division again AASRA members did very well. In first place it was Pat Griffin with 99 points, in second place Andy Van Biert with 94 points and in third it was Patti Valero from Florida with 77 points.

​

The Amputee Division saw Jesse Florkowski lead the way with a total of 220, in second was Kristian Hammerback with 236 and in third was Glenn Cassidy with 254.

​

Patti Valero was the Ladies Amputee Champion with a score of 312. We were very pleased to have Gwen Davies in attendance this year to present the Ladies Amputee Champion with her trophy.

​

In the Senior Divisions Johannes Grames was the overall Senior winner with 237. Johannes finished third in the Stroke play but took the award as the Senior Champion instead.

​

The Senior Division was won by Chris Thulin with a score of 275, in second was Rod Reimer with 276 and in third AASRA member Dave Marchand at 288.

​

The Super Seniors saw Doug Karlson finish first with 266, in second was Barry Hill with 276 and in third AASRA member Vic McClelland with 278.

​

The Super Super Senior Division saw Jerry Brandt finish first with 297 and Ed Krayewski in second with 335.

​

The Interprovincial Title this year went to a combined team from BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba which included Johannes Grams, Doug Karlson, Glenn Cassidy and Kristian Hammerback. Congrats guys.

​

Team Alberta finished second and Team Ontario was third.

​

It was a great week of golf and I hope to see you all again next year.
