Support Groups for Amputees, Family & Friends
AASRA peer support group leaders and participants are amputees themselves and have “real life” experience. Drop In, No charge. Everyone's welcome and amputee support persons are encouraged to attend. For further information please email us at info@aasra.ab.ca.
Calgary Support Group
Support group sessions in Calgary are lead by Ivan and Sherri Hlavenka from April to September and by Shane Lopushinsky from October to March on the last Wednesday of the month. There are no meetings in July and August. Meeting locations are at Carewest Glenmore Park, 6909 14 Street SW, from 7-8 PM and at the Peter Lougheed Hospital from 3-4 PM. If you'd like to speak to someone outside of those meeting times send us an email at info@aasra.ab.ca and we'll arrange for you to receive a one on one visit.
Edmonton Support Group
Shane Williams leads the support group meetings in Edmonton. They take place on the last Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Glenrose Hospital, Room 2177. In Edmonton there are also no meetings held in July or August, however, if you need to speak to someone during that time, send us an email at info@aasra.ab.ca and we will arrange for you to receive a one on one visit.
